TEXAS SENATE COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORTATION AND HOMELAND SECURITY TO HOLD HEARING IN EL PASO THURSDAY, NOV. 8

On Thursday, November 8, 2007 the Texas Senate Committee on Transportation and Homeland Security will hold a hearing in El Paso. The committee will hear testimony on state issues, including the enhanced drivers license program, traffic ticket surcharges, border security, and cross-border trade.

EL PASO – On Thursday, November 8, 2007 the Texas Senate Committee on Transportation and Homeland Security will hold a hearing in El Paso.  The committee will hear testimony on state issues, including the enhanced drivers license program, traffic ticket surcharges, border security, and cross-border trade.    

Mayor John Cook will provide the welcome at 10:00 a.m.  Invited testimony will also be heard from Chuck Berry (TxDOT), Edgar Ruiz (Director, Border Legislative Conference), Judge Robert Anchondo (El Paso county Criminal Court at Law 2), Jaime Esparza (El Paso District Attorney), Chief Richard Wiles (El Paso Chief of Police), Steve McGraw (Director, Governor's Office of Homeland Security), Bob Cook (President, El Paso REDCO), Alfonso Marquez (Director of Operations, NOVAMEX), Veronica Callaghan (Border Trade Alliance), and Hector Holguin (Secure Origins).     

The media and the public are invited to attend.  Public testimony is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
