El Paso - Today, August 12, 2009 Senator Eliot Shapleigh and Ciudad Juárez Mayor Jose Reyes Ferriz travel to Irving, Texas to attend the 12th Annual Transportation & Infrastructure Summit. The purpose and goal of the Summit is to learn, share dialogue, advocate and network with the nation’s transportation and public policy leaders, private sector leaders and trade associations.
Senator Shapleigh and Mayor Ferriz will be presenting on several topics including:
- The importance of international border crossings as inland ports to Texas trade.
- Moving people and products faster, safer, and more efficiently with the use of technology.
- Commuter rail here and else where in Texas.
November 4-7, Senator Shapleigh will host "Americas 2020," a transportation conference in San Antonio focused on North American mobility. In addition, Shapleigh has authored dozens of bills on transportation and infrastructure, mobility, and the use of technology in transportation.
