SENATOR SHAPLEIGH TO AWARD UNITED BLOOD SERVICES OF EL PASO WITH "ADELANTE CON GANAS"

EL PASO – On Friday, February 23, Senator Shapleigh will honor United Blood Services of El Paso with the Adelante Con Ganas Award.  Every month Senator Shapleigh awards one or more persons who have made an extraordinary commitment to service, family and community.  This month he honors United Blood Services for their tireless commitment to the health of El Paso's community. 

United Blood Services is a non-profit community blood center that has faithfully served El Paso/Las Cruces for over 55 years.  Its mission is to make a difference in people's lives by assuring a safe and plentiful blood supply.  United Blood Services provides blood to 16 area hospitals, employs 120 people locally, and must collect an average of 150 blood donations daily to meet the community's needs.   

The award ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Region IX Head Start facility at 11670 Chito Samaniego.  The media and public are invited to attend.
