In response to heavy rain fall and flash flooding around the El Paso area, measures have been taken by areas governments and agencies to help assist in the emergency effort. Read the update on conditions and services for flood victims.

Rain Emergency: Update 4
El Paso, Texas - August 2, 2006 - In response to heavy rain fall and flash flooding around the El Paso area, the following measures have been taken to help assist in the emergency effort:
Damage Assessment Information:
Property Damage: Citizens that need to report damage to their homes or businesses property need to call 541-4558. Citizens will need to report the following information:
County,
Incorporated City,
Name,
Address,
Phone,
Type of structure,
Type of damage,
Water level in inches,
Estimated income (Low, Medium, High),
Is the structure occupied?,
Own or rent?,
Estimated total loss,
Do you have insurance coverage?,
Amount of uninsured loss,
Percent of uninsured loss.
Public Property: Citizens that would like to report damage in their area that has been sustained to public roadways and structures are advised to call 541-4558 with the following information:

Preparations for Anticipated Rain Fall:
Sandbags: Sandbags are being prepared as we speak. We will send out immediate notification as soon as they are ready and delivered to the following locations. * PLEASE NOTE THEY ** ARE NOT ALREADY AT THE LISTED STATIONS. *

Shelters: The following shelters are currently available for residents who are self-evacuating. Please note that these are emergency shelters. Full-service locations will provide food and cots. If you seek shelter at the locations that are not full-service facilities, as a precautionary measure, please bring personal necessities * (medications, sleeping bag, snacks, personal hygiene products, etc.) * in the event you are housed there for the night:

City Services: All City services and facility operations have resumed on their normal schedules. All bus routes have resumed on the Summer schedule.
Update on Rio Grande Conditions: Emergency staff is continuing to monitor the flow and water level of the river. As of this morning, the water level was down to approximately 6.5 feet. The river flow is even, both up and down stream from the El Paso area.
TXDOT: The Texas Department of Transportation has brought in crews and equipment from Ft. Davis, Van Horn and Dell City, as well as their local staff. They are working around the clock doing clean-up, repair and assisting the City's Street Department.
City of Socorro: The City of Socorro would like to share with their residents that they now have a limited amount of sandbags. The National Guard has worked around the clock to help fill sandbags to be prepared to assist in today's efforts. Pick-up locations for sandbags are the Socorro Fire Department on Socorro Rd. and Socorro Police Headquarters at 670 Poona. If you are disabled, elderly or need emergency assistance, please call 858-6985.
Donations:
Red Cross: All Red Cross chapters are working together to assist in helping the entire region. If you have had Red Cross training in the past or would like to give a financial donation, please call 592-0208 or email elpaso@usa.redcross.org.
Salvation Army: The Salvation Army is coordinating with the Mexican Consulate in assisting Ciudad Juárez with relief. Please call the 544-9811 number for drop-off locations.
The following items are needed:

1 Cleaning supplies (detergent, Clorox, buckets, mops)
2 Non-perishable foods
3 Diapers, wipes, dry baby formula, baby clothing and blankets
4 Aspirin, Tylenol, cough syrup
5 First Aid supplies
6 Adults / Children's clothing and shoes and socks (new or next to new)
7 Blankets
8 Personal and feminine hygiene products
9 Financial Donations will be accepted
