Building El Paso: The Brain Gain

Last weekend, I was visiting my neighbors in El Paso and I ran into Chris Fernandez. He just graduated from UTEP in Civil Engineering.

He told me that he might have to leave El Paso to get the pay and job he wants. “Let’s see what you can do here!” I said. “Right now, El Paso is the best place to be and a UTEP Civil Engineering degree will get you a great job.”

So, we’ll see what we can do to help him find the right job.

With highways coming, the Medical Center of the Americas, Future Combat Systems over at Ft. Bliss and new growth in technology and manufacturing, we need Chris Fernandez right here where the action is!

It’s worth the fight to keep him here!

Things to See:
McNeil River Falls, Alaska

It happens every summer. On any given day from late June to early August, as many as 50 brown bears may converge on Alaska’s McNeil River Falls. There they feed on the abundance of salmon running through its tumbling currents along the McNeil River. During the season, small groups of people quietly observe them, striking what may be the perfect balance between wildlife and humans.
