On the Senator's Desk: On Tuesday, the Supreme Court returned the long-awaited decision on Texas' school finance system. In essence, the Court determined that the property tax system is unconstitutional, but that Texas is not required to put more money into the public education system...yet. Senator Shapleigh was disappointed with the Court's ruling.

Those who visited: Lilly Limon and Alicia Chacoan visited with the Senator on Monday afternoon to discuss the upcoming Sembrador del Bien Awards dinner.

Upcoming Events: Mesilla Valley's third annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony by community dignitaries will be at 6 p.m. on Nov. 25 at the Fiesta Mercado Shopping Center, 10600 North Loop. Santa Claus will give children candy bags and toys. Carolers from school will sing holiday songs.
