EL PASO - On Saturday, May 30, 2009 beginning at 8:30 a.m., the El Paso Don't Borrow Trouble Campaign (DBT) and the Texas Foreclosure Prevention Task Force will host a foreclosure prevention workshop at the El Dorado High School Library. The office of Senator Eliot Shapleigh helped arrange the event.
Certified housing counselors from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will be available to speak with workshop registrants.
El Pasoans who may be behind on their mortgage payments or who would like to learn more about existing home retention programs should plan to attend. Registrants should bring:
· their latest mortgage statement;
· their two most recent months of paystubs;
· their 2008 tax returns;
· their W-2 forms;
· a hardship letter explaining their reason for default, if registrant is in default;
· their most recent bank statement;
· a list of monthly expenses; and
· a profit and loss statement, if registrant is self-employed.Representatives from GECU, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Rocky Mountain Mortgage Company and First Light Federal Credit Union will also be in attendance.
Those interested may register at the door or by phone at 915-533-SAVE (7283). While all homeowners facing foreclosure or with questions on loan modifications and refinancing may attend, priority will be given to those who register via phone.
