Federal statute requires Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld to identify his BRAC 2005 base closure and realignment recommendations no later than May 16. However, many community and state leaders believe the announcement by the Department of Defense of installations on the list to be considered for closure or realignment could come as early as May 10th.
