EL PASO – The 2008 El Paso Pride Environmental Summit will be held tomorrow, September 19, at the Ysleta Independent Schools District Cultural Arts Center from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The summit is co-sponsored by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the Office of El Paso County Attorney José Rodríguez.
The theme of this year's summit is "What can you do to make a difference?"
The summit will include remarks from Texas Senator Eliot Shapleigh, El Paso County Attorney José Rodríguez, El Paso County Commissioner Veronica Escobar, City Council Representative Steve Ortega, TCEQ Border Area Director Ramiro Garcia, and City of El Paso Sustainability Manager Marty Howell.
In addition, a keynote presentation on "Think Green, Go Green" will be provided by El Paso Community Scholars Sonia Alvarez (Canutillo High School), Cindy Cintron (Riverside High School), and Abbey Cohen (Franklin High School). In the afternoon, discussions will be held on illegal dumping in El Paso and plastic bag pollution.
The event is free and open the public.
