EL PASO – On Wednesday, May 30, Senator Shapleigh will honor Colonel Robert T. Burns, Garrison Commander of Ft. Bliss with the Adelante Con Ganas Award.  Every month Senator Shapleigh awards one or more persons who have made an extraordinary commitment to service, family and community.  This month he honors Colonel Robert T. Burns for his tireless commitment to our community and Ft. Bliss.

Colonel Burns is the Garrison Commander for Ft. Bliss, Texas.   He works on base with Operation Homefront, which helps to keep our deployed servicemen close to their families while serving their country.  Also, he has been involved with the El Paso community to get our city ready for the new troops.  Colonel Burns is truly dedicated to his country, military and community.

The award ceremony will be held during the 5th inning of the El Paso Diablos Game, which starts at 7:05 pm at Cohen Stadium at 9700 Gateway N. Blvd.  The media and public are invited to attend.
