EL PASO – On Friday, February 16, 2007 Socorro Independent School District will host Senator Eliot Shapleigh as he tours Hurshel Antwine School. He will visit several classrooms and witness 21st Century learning.
Socorro ISD is implementing interactive whiteboards (IWBs) in all of its new schools. The IWBs are connected to a data projector where teachers can assess their desktops and electronic instructional materials. Today's digital natives are captivated with teacher created lessons that infuse colors, sounds, movies and animations to target key concepts. Our teachers are transforming the way they teach in order to address the various learning styles of their students.
Senator Shapleigh will visit classrooms from Kindergarten through Eight Grade and share in technology-rich, interactive lessons. The visit will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
