The Great Flood of 2006 has affected all of us in one way or another. These are just a few of the photographs I've taken over the past days. They capture a moment in the lives of those who have been impacted by the flood -- from homes being overrun with water and mud to the destruction of our roads and infrastructure. They also capture the strength of our community and our commitment to rise up together and recover.

Volunteer to Clean-Up a Flooded Home
Senator Shapleigh is organizing a clean-up of a flooded home this Sunday. Meet the Senator and the clean-up crew at 5901 Cabrillo this Sunday, August 13 at 9 a.m. and bring your old jeans, gloves, and some work shoes. To get there, take I-10 West and exit Sunland Park. Turn right on Sunland Park, then turn left on Crestmont. Then take a left on San Saba to Cabrillo.
El Pasoans Have Family Trapped In Lebanon
El Pasoan Teresa Azar Chidiac is just one of thousands of Lebanese Americans who worry about the safety of her family still trapped in Lebanon. Her 75-year-old father went to the country last May, and is now trying to get out. She said, "He's got grandchildren that love him over here that miss him that want to see him, but it's hard because you don't know what to do." Ahmad Ghoneim has had many sleepless nights, since his family and fiancée remain in Lebanon. Officials say hundreds of Lebanese have been killed, the majority of whom are civilians.
