On the Senator's Desk:
Representative Mark Strama from Austin and Cass Calloway from Dallas were in El Paso this past Saturday to participate in Senator Shapleigh's Tu Comunidad Candidate School.

The school assisted about 80 future candidates on deciding to run for office and the fundamentals of a campaign. The Candidate School kicks off Senator Shapleigh's Adelante Con Ganas Campaign.

Those who visited:
Bob Rasmussan, the new Executive Director of the Texas Military Preparedness Commission (TMPC), visited with Senator Shapleigh for several hours on Wednesday. The TMPC is the State's Commission tasked with developing a proactive statewide strategy to assist defense-dependent communities prepare for the next generation of military in Texas. Senator Shapleigh and Mr. Rasmussan discussed the impact of the recent base realignment and closure (BRAC) round on Texas' defense-dependent communities and strategized on what state leaders can do to support communities in this time of flux.

Upcoming Events:
On Sunday, November 20th, at 3:00 PM at 910 East San Antonio, the Cinco Puntos Press and the Consulado General de México are hosting the official release of David Romo's new book, Ringside Seat to a Revolution. Following a presentation by the Consulado General and the author, Senator Eliot Shapleigh, Pedro Siller, Dr. Oscar Martinez and Dr. Yolanda Leyva will comment on the book. At 6:00 PM at the Camino Real Dome Bar, a book signing celebration with food, drink, music by Fronteras No Mas and dancing by the Rosa Guerrero Ballet International will be held.
