On the Senator's desk:
Senator Shapleigh continued his tour of Texas to discuss issues surrounding school finance and taxation this week. On Tuesday he spoke to a group in Killeen, Texas, home of Fort Hood. On Wednesday and Thursday, the Senator was in the Dallas-Fort Worth area speaking to a Chicano/Latino Leadership group and a class at the University of Texas at Arlington.
Those who visited:
On Wednesday, Sylvia Borunda Firth, the City of El Paso's new Director of Governmental Affairs, traveled to Austin and visited the Senator's Capitol Office to introduce herself to policy staff and discuss transportation issues.
Upcoming events:
On Saturday, at 11am at El Paso Democratic Party Headquarters, 1401 Montana, Matt Glazer the State Field Director for No Nonsense in November, a political group opposed to the passage of Proposition 2, the anti-same sex amendment, will be in El Paso. The public is encouraged to attend and learn more about the contentious issue.
