On the Senator's Desk:
Senator Shapleigh continues his tour of Texas, traveling the state to speak with different communities about school finance issues. This week he spoke to an Eastside El Paso Neighborhood Association. Next week he travels to the heart of Texas to speak in Killeen and then to the Dallas-Fort Worth area to speak with several groups.
Those who visited:
The Hispanic Alliance for Progress, a national Hispanic advocacy and policy organization, visited Senator Shapleigh in El Paso on Tuesday to talk about access to capital and lending issues, including the development of a financial literacy pilot program in El Paso.
Upcoming Events:
On Saturday, October 15th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the Rio Grande Safe Communities Coalition is hosting the Bi-national Red Ribbon Rally to raise awareness about the dangers involved with the use, abuse and trafficking of drugs. The rally will be held at Bowie High School on San Marcial Street.
