On July 11th, the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Commission will hold a public meeting in San Antonio to allow Texas and Arkansas communities affected by the Department of Defense's BRAC recommendations to communicate with the decision-makers. This is the only hearing scheduled in Texas, though originally the Commission had planned on attending hearings in both San Antonio and the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Community hearings and rallies are one of the best ways for defense communities to communicate directly with the decision-makers. While Commissioners are visiting communities individually, scheduled hearings bring together multiple Commissioners in one forum. The hearing will be held at the San Antonio Convention center and is set to begin at 8:30 A.M.
Below is the tentative agenda:
8:30 a.m. -- Welcome: Sen Hutchison brief welcome, introduces Gov Perry
8:35 a.m. -- Red River/Lone Star
9:30 a.m. -- Arkansas
10 a.m. -- Brooks City-Base
10:15 a.m. -El Paso/Bliss
