"As we have repeatedly warned, everyone who makes over $100,000 per year get $368 million in tax cuts, and everyone else get $900.8 million in tax hikes," Senator Shapleigh stated.
"In Austin, the debate should be about great schools and fair taxes. Instead, under H.B. 2 and 3, a wealthy few get big tax cuts and more money to give their children great schools, and everyone else gets higher taxes and barely enough money to cover inflation costs. Under the Perry Tax Plan, 9 in 10 Texans will pay more for less. Based on recent U.S. Census figures, 93.7% of El Pasoans will get a tax hike under H.B. 3."
This tax bill, H.B. 3, will be debated on the House floor tomorrow, July 6, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. (CMT). Please contact, Brie Franco at (512) 463-0129 for any questions regarding this press release or the tax equity note.
