EL PASO - On Wednesday, February 11, 2009, Senator Eliot Shapleigh will attend the "Thinking Big, Thinking Forward" conference in Washington D.C.
This conference, convened by The American Prospect, Institute for America's Future, Demos and the Economic Policy Institute, is designed to demonstrate how, with a serious commitment to public investment, ordinary people will once again get real value for their tax dollars, and how, by encouraging the new administration and Congress to embrace this approach, activist, progressive government will enjoy a new era of popular support.
Today's economic crisis is the moment to think big and plan ahead—and not just for the immediate challenge of ending the recession.
"As Franklin Delano Roosevelt said, 'all we have to fear is fear itself”. In this conference, President Obama is gathering Americans to help us face our future with confidence, and with out fear, to renew faith in ourselves, our communities and our future,'" Senator Shapleigh said
The conference will feature policy makers and academics from around the nation. Nobel Laureate, Princeton University economic and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman will make remarks during the conference, as well as Vice President Joseph Biden.
The conference will take place at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C. For more information on the conference, please click here.
