El Paso –  The Texas Tech University School of Medicine has recently announced an administrative change to its medical school in El Paso.  Dr. Robert Suskind will be replaced as Regional and Founding Dean of El Paso's four-year medical school.

I am deeply grateful for Dr. Suskind's deep commitment, vision and hard work during his tenure at Texas Tech in El Paso.  He remained firm in his commitment to develop a university culture consistent with the Medical Center of the Americas (MCA) vision, to recruit top-notch physicians and educators to El Paso, and to establish a progressive curriculum at the school that would uniquely prepare our community's next generation of physicians.

We first started dreaming about a medical school in Unite El Paso in 1992. More than any endeavor, a four-year medical school in El Paso will build jobs and give us a solid foundation for a prosperous future.  Fifteen years of hard work have paid off this session.

Now, we must move to secure accreditation.  That is the next goal for our four-year medical school.
